Review & Giveaway: Traitor by Megan Curd

Synopsis:  Ashlyn never believed in fairy tales until she was in one.

They say ignorance is bliss, but not when you're on a centuries old hit list...and there's a traitor in your midst.

Ashlyn must decide what's most important: trusting the allies she has, or siding with those she thought were enemies. Ashlyn knows old friends can turn on her, and unlikely allies may be the best chance she has to piece her family back together. No matter what her choice, she could lose someone she loves.

And when you don't know who to trust, believe one thing: You can never trust a faerie.

Review:  Traitor is the second installment in the Bridger series.  If you have not read Bridger, don't worry - Megan gives a recap of what occurred, so you won't be too lost.  Ashlyn is coming to terms with the fact that she is half faerie and half changeling (evil!).  She is trying to use her powers to save her brother, and Liam's brother.  She risks all to save them, and becomes ensnared in more dark plots than the last book.  The love triangle between Ashlyn, Liam and Reese becomes even more complicated.  I still can't decided if I'm team Reese or team Liam.  They both have their moments.

The title of the book is Traitor so, you know there is a traitor but who is it?  Who can Ashlyn trust and who will betray whom?  You'll have to read to find out.  You will be shocked - I know I was.

The one thing that bugged me a little bit is how selfish Ashlyn could be at times (ie, about finding her father).  I guess that's normal teenage behavior, and she should be allowed to be a little selfish with the weight on her shoulders...but it disappointed me a little.  She does grow as a character in this book, and I cannot wait to see where the next book takes her.

In Traitor alternating chapters are told from Reese's perspective, which I liked.  Reese gives us a different perspective and keeps things fresh.  I love Reese as a character and I'm also looking forward to see what happens with Ashlyn and Reese - and whether she chooses him or Liam.

Traitor is a fast-paced paranormal adventure that I could not put down.  Megan paints a vivid picture of Ashyln's world and the characters in it. You won't be disappointed if you like young adult paranormal stories - especially ones that are full of action.
