[Guest Post] Writing Sparkelicious was Music to my Ears by Libby Bray

Writing Sparkelicious was Music to my Ears
If it wasn’t for music, I wouldn’t have written Sparkelicious. For me, it’s been a natural progression; performing on the stage to performing on the page. When I was five years old, I was singing in talent competitions with my sisters in South Carolina and even wrote my first song soon after. I continued to perform in pageants, always choosing singing for the talent portion of the competition. After college graduation, I penned several more original pop songs, moved to L.A. and landed a summer gig with a band in Japan.
After Japan, I formed my own band and started writing country-pop songs. I performed at all sorts of clubs in Los Angeles. It was a lot of fun but my music took a more serious turn when I moved to Nashville to pursue a record deal. I played showcases to record label executives and worked with some of the best musicians in the business. In 1999, I recorded an album on Empire Records and wrote several songs on my debut CD. Lyrics became increasingly important to me to the point where my songwriting evolved into writing short stories and then to where I am today writing novels.
